Vaccines from Recess to Retirement

In the last 50 years, vaccinations have saved more Canadian lives than any other health measure. Vaccinations are our best defence against many serious illnesses and help prevent the spread of disease to others.

Herd immunity is important as it can prevent break outs of disease by providing protection to vulnerable people such as newborn babies, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.

Immunizations provide long term and sometimes life long protection against a disease. The benefits of preventing disease with a vaccine far out weigh the risk. Vaccines used in Canada are very safe and are developed in accordance with the highest standards and are continually monitored for safety and effectiveness. Talk to your health care professional to make sure you are immunized according to your age and lifestyle.
