Autism

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder where the brain functioning can cause a variety of symptoms in behaviour, communication, and social interaction.  Research is finding more and more ways to diagnose Autism earlier discovering interventions to help build skills to enjoy every day life activities, improving quality of life.   You may hear of the term “Spectrum” in relation to Autism where the symptoms may look different for every person. An assessment is needed to determine the diagnosis where services can then be offered to assist the individual and their family from the community.  Ask your family doctor about a referral for an assessment or any questions you may have about your child’s growth and development.
