Anxiety
What is anxiety? Often times when we experience feelings of worry and nervousness, it can serve as a purpose to motivate us to complete tasks (ie reach a work deadline or finish writing a paper). These feelings may also alert us to any external dangers or threats. On the other hand, experiencing anxiety more intensely and for longer periods of time can heavily interfere with one’s normal functioning in their everyday lives. Those experiencing anxiety disorders may find that their anxiety is causing a strain on their relationships, school life, work life, and social life just to name a few.
Treatment for Anxiety Disorders? If you are struggling with anxiety there is help available. For more information, please consult with your Family Physician or Allied health professional. The NYFHT social work team offers individual counselling and group programs for anxiety. If you are interested, please speak with your Family Physician to make a referral.
