Arthritis

The term arthritis includes over 100 different diseases that affect the joints.  The word itself means: joint inflammation.  Some of the most common types of arthritis include: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis and gout.  Over 4.2 million Canadian’s are living with some form of arthritis. Arthritis is the second most common chronic condition reported by women and the third most common reported by men. Arthritis affects people from all age groups.

Most people with arthritis will experience, joint stiffness, swelling and pain.  This can make a huge impact of people’s daily activities and lives.  At this time there is no cure for arthritis but the condition can be managed with lifestyle modifications and medications.
