Alcohol and Drug/Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse can be defined as the use of substances (alcohol, prescription medication, illicit drugs) that lead to an increased risk of problems as well as difficulty controlling the use of the substance. Despite acknowledging the harmful consequences of abusing the substance, individuals often come to depend on the substance behaviourally, cognitively, and physiologically.  Substance abuse can negatively impact health, emotional well-being, relationship and our employment.

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, please contact the Metro Addiction Assessment Referral Service (416-599-1448) and they will assist with referring you to the appropriate resources. Learn more about substance abuse at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (https://www.camh.ca).
